Hi All,
I have joined this due to recently finding out my mum has pancreatic cancer. My mum is 44 years old and I am currently studying in my 2nd year of university and this news has taken all of my family completely back in shock. They completed a biopsy and so far the cancer has not grown, but it is not fully submerged into the pancreas, which means they can't straight away complete surgery. My mum has been offered 3 months of chemo, which is starting next Thursday. Does anybody have any coping strategies? It is constantly on my mind and with the stress of university work too I've been suffering from really bad migraines and insomnia. I also have a younger sister, who I constantly worry about if she is coping with the news.
Any advice would be nice.
Thank you
Hello Friend 22
I'm sorry to hear this news and I hope that surgery can be carried out in due course.
My advice on coping strategies is to take one day at a time. It's very difficult, I know, but try not to think of 'what ifs' and try not to worry about the future. It's amazing but somehow we all do cope with these difficult situations.
