Hi all, is there an issue with the supply of PERT? I am on Creon 25000 capsules and the pharmacy seems to struggle to fulfil my prescription 5 x 100 = 5 bottles. I try and order when I am down to my last two bottles ( just over a weeks supply )to give them time to get some in but even this is not enough time. Is this the same everywhere or just in my area, East Yorkshire?
Hi there, yes there has been a supply chain issue. Radio 4 reported about two weeks back. I spoke with my local pharmacist at the time and she rang me last week to say that she could source a lower dose version. I had a couple of weeks supply so I said I would wait. Got the call yesterday that she had some so it seems that here in London, the supply is back.
Thanks for your reply. I have gone back to Dr's to order an alternative. I will just need to see what comes first
I had to go without them for over a week (the toilet was not a pretty site!)then I had 7-10000s a day instead of 3-25000s and I was informed that it was a worldwide problem affecting most of the UK but now it thankfully seems to be over and back to normal. Ask in at your chemist or pharmacy the week before you pick up more and they should know if there are any problems in the supply chain or if their having any trouble finding them?
Hello again,
Similar story in West London, when I reordered recently our pharmacist rang to say that they were back in short supply. This time the delay was about a week but I got some on Monday. I was in Germany two weeks back on at a clinic there, there have been no reports of shortages so it feels like UK is an outlier. Also my friend in France (an oncology nurse) has told me that they haven’t seen any shortages.
All the best
Shortage of 25000 creon has been on and off since I started taking it in 2022/2023. Sometimes I have been given the lower dose which means I have to take more
I Think supply is at quite a critical stage now and pharmacy at my drs are really struggling to fulfil my needs despite their best efforts
only today I managed to find a local small pharmacy that could supply the 600 per month that I need
I have enough to last me for 40 days if I don’t snack and just take with meals
I Live in West Berkshire if that helps
you can be prescribed Nutrizyme but I know that this is at critical levels too
All that treatment and sugar care to get me to optimum health and weight could be scuppered by the lack of availability of PERT
