Hi All,

My darling dad is 4 years post stage 4 diagnosis - I am so grateful that he's still here.

Chemo has been harsh on him during this this time and he's currently on a break from treatment as he had a nasty case of diverticulitis. He has been treated for this, but have noticed that his appetite has decreased dramatically, he is getting more pain than normal and his stomach has swollen a lot. The GP originally said that the swelling is not ascites (which he had drained regularly when he was first diagnosed).

I just wondered if anyone knows what else could cause his stomach to swell so much. I am wondering if the break from chemo has meant things have changed with the cancer. He's not due a follow up scan with oncology for a few weeks yet and I'm worried that after doing so well, things maybe taking a turn for the worst :(

  • Hello, given this new symptom, I would chat to the nurse involved with his care, to ask if he can be seen sooner and explain the reason why he has the swelling x

Hi Kerra. Do you have any news? My Dad has a similar swelling. I’m sorry your Dad is ill too but how amazing he’s here 4 years after stage 4 diagnosis. He must be a very strong man!
