Effectiveness of creon when on Gemcitabine.

My creon no longer seems to be effective. Im 4 cycles in on a month treatment. The further I get into treatment, the less effective my creon seems to be. Im now on 14 or 16 tablets per meal.

    Hi

I also have Creon and Gemcitabine - notice that I have to up the amount of Creon during my week off from chemo - my cycle is taking 3 tablets x twice a day for three weeks then one week off.

Was told that you can’t have too many Creon tablets although I haven’t had to raise the quantity as much as you - I’d speak to the oncologist about this, if you haven’t already?

Hope you get some help with this, good luck!

NP Rom Mum - the Pancreatic Cancer UK charity has some really good info about enzyme replacement therapy plus they offer a helpline to discuss issues on this too.

Thank you. I will check it out. It really has helped. Sometimes you can feel so alone. Great to be able to reach out to people who understand.

Glad it’s helped… having cancer and being on many different drugs (most of which is never heard of six months ago) can be so isolating. Confused

It can. Its like you are just whisked along on some kind of rollercoaster. No time to think about stuff. So much info being thrown at you.

OMG! The amount of info I was given when in hospital in July was unreal - it was impossible to take it all in and also to understand how things would impact/change your life. It certainly is a roller coaster, just got to try to ride out the down times and hope that things will plateau at some point. I’m hoping that’ll happen when chemo ends next Feb. Fingers crossed Fingers crossed tone2
