God I cant sleep. I need help, please. Feel sick, panicking, crying continuously, terrified.Just had call to say cancer cells found in recently removed ovary. Not much more info available. Further CT scan arranged, multidisciplinary team to discuss. Consultant said chemo and more surgery. Dont know what to do. Shocked! Wanted to say Hi and ask how I am supposed to get through this.
Hi, I’m so sorry you find yourself here. Hearing the word cancer is overwhelming. Going through the different tests and waiting for results is the hardest . Once you know what you’re dealing with and there is a plan in place it does get easier. In the meantime try to stay in the present, I find mindfulness helps. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to over search on the internet. Stick to sites such as ovacome or target ovarian cancer , both charities that specialise in ovarian cancer. I was diagnosed in January 24, had chemotherapy and surgery, it was a tough year. One year one I am doing really well , have been on holiday and planning another one. You will find strength you never knew you had. Best wishes and be kind to yourself. X
That's been a real shock for you as it sounds like it was out of the blue and not because you had any symptoms. But it must be good that they found it before you did have symptoms so hopefully caught early. I was diagnosed this time last year and following chemo and surgery am now in Remission. It's tough but take each step at a time. Nothing is insurmountable if you believe that the treatment ends with defeating the disease. Which it will! There's incredible support on this forum as we all know what you are talking about and feeling. Good luck.
Hi Jay2025,
I’m so sorry you are going through this. I give you the advice my Dr gave me.
1. Stay away from Dr Google, it is inaccurate. We’ve all been there and it’s horrible but instead google happy stories or go to reputable websites such as Ovacome and Ovarian Cancer Action. It helped me a lot to read happy stories.
2. Talk to someone about your fears, charities like The Big C help so much. You need to vent out.
3. Get prepared for surgery and try to keep healthy. I had a radical hysterectomy and Cytoreductive surgery. It’s tough but you are strong. Have lots of protein.
This part of the journey is super hard as you have no idea what’s going on and no control. MDT meetings are amazing, they’ll come up with the best plan so trust you’re in good hands. It’s just the waiting that is frustrating, once you have dates in place you will feel better and more in control. Be kind with yourself, you can do this xx
Hi I'm 2 weeks post surgery and believe me I know what you're going through! The 2 weeks pre surgery I was a wreck, absolutely terrified of everything about to happen. Remember you are not alone - I found macmillan group really helpful
