Hello Everyone. I’m new here having had a keyhole operation to remove an ovary and cysts which were believed to be non-cancerous the checks now say that there is clear cell carcinoma in the ovary and cyst(s). One was burst on the way out - not sure what this means. Got a CT scan today & then the Multi Disciplinary Team are discussing on Tuesday. I am so frightened. Please offer any experience you have of what helps and what hinders your mental or physical health at this stage. Thank you X
Hi sorry to hear your news I have a ovarian cyst which they say is not cancerous but I can have it removed. Was you having the c125 blood test and regular scans. They said they only do ultrasound for 1 year. They are going to do me o ne last scan in January and blood tests . How big was yours. Sorry for the questions I'm just wondering if I should have mine removed. I've just been dealing with 2 other cancers melanoma and thyroid cancer which has been removed and so far no evidence of disease. How big was your cysts if you dont mind me asking. Hope everything goes OK for you.
Hi Tracy. It is scary to be in this place and I’m sorry to hear that you’re here. Waiting is very hard and all I can offer is to stay focused on the likelihood that this is treatable, ovarian cancer is well researched to know the best treatment and (hopefully) you have family and friends to support you through this. My suggestion while you wait for the outcome of this initial MDT meeting is to focus on those activities that give you joy and as it is likely that it will be a few weeks before treatment starts, consider how you can be as physically active and as fit as can be. The fitter you are and the healthier your diet, the better you will cope with chemo that is the treatment route. Best wishes for whatever is ahead of you.
Hi, bless you, this is really tricky. I had my scan yesterday and managed to sleep last night as I feel like the process has started. It really is a roller coaster. I thunk that the unknown and the waiting is so tricky. The advice above about staying fit and eating well are resonating for me and as I am now over my first op I am upping the outdoor walking and trying to think about living life to the full until the next op lays me low for a bit.
I’m around to chat on here if that helps, not that I have much experience to share yet.
