Hi all, new here. I have stage 3A ovarian cancer and recently had surgery, which went well without any complications. Just had my first chemo of taxel/carbo combination and suffering from terrible side effects. It’s been a week but still vomiting ,stomach cramps,no taste in mouth, can’t keep anything down. Muscle and joint pain and feeling dizzy. Is there any ways to manage these?
Hi. I am so sorry that you are feeling such horrible side effects. My experience was that things were ok on days 2 and 3 (due to the wonderful steroids!) and then I felt rough from days 4 to 9 (although I was luckier than you). I managed with ibuprofen during the day and cocodomol at night (stronger so you are more likely to sleep but you aren’t meant to take them for more than a few days, so I focused on night time). If constipation is also an issue I found that vegetable tagine, vegetable soup etc worked ok and were far nicer than the (horrible!) laxido sachets. Other things that helped were lots of water, time on the sofa watching favourite films, some gentle walks (apparently helps with bowel movements and also with recovery from surgery) and general self TLC. By day 10 I started to feel normal and then the cycle started again 12 days later. Best wishes.
