Morning SEM. It's a very difficult time waiting for appointments, scans, tests and results so be very kind to yourself, whatever you are feeling is normal, and doesn't have to be fixed. I was diagnosed with advanced Ovarian cancer on 15 Dec. I was in your position around Oct 23. What helped me was taking each day as it came, trying to do normal things as much as possible and not being afraid to tell other people if you need space and time. I found it, and still do, all very overwhelming. Its your journey and what you want matters the most. Keep connected with those you love, dont google for information but contact experts like Macmillan. The helpline is amazing & supportive. Push your apts etc as much as you can, those that shout loudest win. If you are waiting to long, keep on trying. The NHS are amazing and over loaded but you have to push for yourself. Thinking of you..I've just had my 1st chemo. Side effects aren't nice but I keep focusing on hopefully its working on killing those pesky rogue cells. Take care and best wishes x
Thank you for responding and helpful comments, it feels better being in touch with people who are in similar situation, will push for next appointment if I don’t hear anything by Monday. My GP has been good at chasing up so far so will call them too . Good luck with the chemo , first one done, take care.
You are never alone even if it feels like it at times. Meant to add that my appetite decreased too but I tried to eat healthy foods as well as treats to keep my strength up, little & often.
Thank you for your kind comments too, I keep the faith
Keep in touch and best wishes for you x
Waiting for results and appointments - I always found/still find very stressful. My appetite certainly decreased the few weeks leading up to my surgery and I hardly touched a thing the week before. I think it was a mix of the symptoms and feelings of utter fear! My appetite did return. I think the advice of eating little and often and trying to get a good mix of healthy and something to tempt your taste buds is a good idea. The other thing I did was - I kept saying to myself over and over again that in the here and now - I am ok. I am alive and walking around etc and I just kept it as basic as that! The other thing I did was as soon as the anxiety came on - I would get up and do something (anything!) Activity is really helpful for burning up those anxious feelings. Walking the anxiety off is another good way of dealing with it. Keep chatting and seeking support - there is always here and the MacMillan Helpline for you to talk to someone. I hope all goes well for you xx
Thank you so much, for your support, this chat is really helping me knowing I’m not alone, I’ve actually managed to eat something today and feel better for it, one step at a time. Take care
