New and awaiting diagnosis

Hi

I'm new and last Thurs had an internal ct scan and they found a large complex mass, the radiographer said she could see a solid mass in it. She said I would need another scan, i understand she is only going by what the general rule is.

But when I chased to see what's going on,  I have a high 125 level too, which my Dr had done as I have a heart condition and she wanted to check everything as my tiredness and bloating and occasional bad cramps etc (also had a hysterectomy 5 yrs ago but ovaries remained)

But when I chased to see what's going on, I've been told my case is going to mdt to discuss.

My question is - is it normal to go to an mdt before being told it could be cancer?

The waiting part is so hard, the not knowing what is going on.

2nd question- how long have people waited before cyst removal?

Sorry and thank you

  • Hi  and welcome to the group

I hope you don’t mind me replying to you, as I have not had the same experience, but I noticed your post hadn’t had a response yet. I just wanted to say what my experience of mdt meetings is.

When you have had a number of tests and scans, it’s usual for these to be collated and go to the mdt for discussion. This does not necessarily mean a cancer diagnosis, but it allows the professionals involved in your care to come together and discuss what the results show, and what the potential next steps are going to be.

I haven’t had an ovarian cyst myself, but hope that some of the other ladies who have been through this will pop in and tell you what was involved in having one removed.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Sarah xx
