I am in the system following a post menopause bleed.   I have had two scans and hysteroscopy.   I have "sinister" (according to the ultrasound) thickening of the womb lining, a very large uterine polyp and a cyst on my ovary.   Next week I am having a second hysteroscopy in theater with the intention of removing the polyp, taking a biopsy of the lining and fitting a coil.

I have also had a CA125 test.   When I had my preop last week I was told that I needed to have the CA125 repeated 10 days after the procedure.   However the nurse I saw couldn't tell me anything about the results.   Has anyone else had a second CA125 with nothing sinister detected?

  • Hi

Waiting for tests and results is a really horrible time and, although I haven't had the same tests as you, I know what a difficult time this might be for you.

Hopefully someone from the group will come forward and tell you about their CA125 test.

  • Hi

i found out I had ovarian cancer by pure luck after having a private scan. Although I did have a hysterectomy 10 years ago but they had left my ovaries in. The first blood test was to check my CA 125 level & it came back absolutely fine however they decided to remove my ovaries  at The Christie hospital anyway as a precautionary measure. My right ovary was cancerous stage 1. I don’t think it’s a 100% accurate cancer monitor but it obviously helps with some cancer diagnosis.

  • I have a hysteroscopy and polypectomy tomorrow so I will ask what the situation is with the CA125 and the cyst.   Other than the hysteroscopy three weeks ago I haven't been examined at all so have no idea whether the cyst is anything to worry about or what.

    Dreading tomorrow!
