Worried about pelvic complex cyst

Hello

I hope it is okay to join this group as I have yet to receive a diagnosis but I am driving myself up the walls in the meantime. I found out yesterday that a 6cm complex adnexal cyst showed up on a pelvic mri I had last week for lower back issues. Ironically it is on the other side to where my main discomfort is. I rang the GP this morning who has red flagged referred me to a gynaecological consultant. It said on the MRI report that it doesn't look like a dermoid or endo cyst. So what else basically is there that isn't bad?

I'm worried as I have been running back and forward to the GP for a couple of years with intestinal issues and usually just yet fobbed off with an Ibs diagnosis from my 20s (I'm now in my late 40s). All my recent blood tests have been satisfactory (including a ca125 in August). I am peri-menopausal.

I guess I just worry about how I would cope with bad news. I'm ashamed to admit I am not the bravest as far as medical things go, as I have watched people I love suffer over the last few years and it still resonates. I also hate to burden my partner and my elderly parents or worry them.

Anyway, sorry for the mood of the above.

Thanks!

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Of course it's okay to join when you're at the undergoing tests stage and you'll probably find others in the group who are in a similar position to yourself.

Hopefully your tests will reveal a non-cancerous condition but, if they don't, please don't fall into the trap of thinking you have to be 'brave' if you have cancer. None of us are brave or courageous or any of the other cliches people who don't have cancer trot out. We are just muddling through as best as we can.

    (((hugs)))
