Hi, I'm new here & would like to hear from people with similar diagnosis!!

I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in March 22 but ad symptoms for months prior to that, urinating more frequently, loss of apetite, feeling bloated when hardly eaten & weight gain, they found a tumour & I had a full hysterectomy within 2-3 weeks, in June I started 6 cycles of chemotherapy whereby I spent 3hrs on 1 & another hr on another, I was at the hospital all day, tried the hair cap but lost all my hair which at 1st was a real shock but now it's started to grow back it feels weird!!They say the tumour has gone but I am on targeted drugs-Avastin infusions every 3 weeks for 17 sessions & Lynparza tablets 4 a day for 2 years, it's been hard & all through my operation recovery I was in constant pain, no amount of pain killers helped & chemo was awful the side effects & now with the Lynparza I have constant shoulder/arm ache  but I'm only half way through my 2nd cycle with that & Oncology are urging me to keep with it, any suggestions to relieve the pain as over the counter pain killers are useless & the pain relief my Dr prescribes just make your drowsy and don't take the pain away!!

  • Hi

I can't help with pain meds but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list.

When I was going through treatment for a different type of cancer, the nurses always said to speak to them if I suffered from any side effects as they should be able to help. Have you had the chance to speak to your oncology nurses yet?

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Miss B

First part of your message sounds just like me! Only 5 months later.

I haven’t had my results from having finished chemo yet so not sure what my plan is going forward. I am sorry to hear you have been in so much pain, I’m sorry I have no suggestions but I hope you do manage to find something that helps x
