Hello, everyone
i was first diagnosed three years ago with Stage 1c agressive Fallopian tube cancer. Hysterectomy and chemo followed and I’ve been good since. Recent problems sent me back to my wonderful MacMillan nurse, who organised a CT scan and appt with my oncologist. Turns out the beast is back! It’s on my bladder and partly on my bowel. Could mean extensive surgery then chemo. My MRI scan to help the team decide what surgery might be needed/possible is this evening. I am very scared of what the future may hold - and indeed - am I going to have much of a future at all…..
It’s such a blow when you find out you have a recurrence, isn’t it? Mine was cervical, but when it came back it spread over my bladder and womb, amongst other places. However, it was still contained within my pelvis so I had very extensive surgery more than 2.5 years ago. If you click on my name you can read my story. I don’t know if this is potentially anything like the surgery which may be considered in your case?
My cancer was successfully removed with clear margins, and I did not need further chemo. Recovery was long, but considering the surgery I had, I have a very good life overall now. I hope this can give you some hope, if your situation is anything like mine, and if I can be of any help, please let me know.

Thanks so much, Sarah. Have read your story and that recovery sounds grim indeed. Wonderful that you have a good life now though and are still clear. Long may that continue. Call from nurse today to say that I may be on the list for multi-disciplinary discussion on Friday but not sure yet. If surgery is an option (which it may not be) I would be looking at two stomas as well, I think. I had a total hysterectomy 3 years ago, so that isn’t an issue this time. Chemo would be dual agent so I would lose my hair this time too. One step at a time, eh?
thanks so much

Hi Sylvia
It’s such a lot to take in, but 2 stomas isn’t so bad in the grand scheme of things really! I only had Cisplatin chemo so have never lost my hair-not sure how I would have dealt with that but it’s one thing I didn’t have to face.
One step at a time is the best mantra I think, and I hope you will soon have a clear path forward.I’m always about if you need a chat.

Thanks again, Sarah. I am determined to stay positive. If I lose my hair, I plan a wig - straight hair for the first time in my life aged. 73!
What an attitude-just brilliant! I’m 60 but sometimes feel about 80! But I always tried to stay positive through everything and I’m certain it helps.
