Hi I've recently joined the forum as I have been informed that i have ovarian cancer, but that it's spread out to my stomach and lung. I'm absolutely petrified and found the meeting with the consultant just washed over me. I'm trying to remember everything he said, especially as he informed me that this type of cancer cannot be cured and the average life expectancy is 24 months. Has anyone in the group had this diagnosis and have you started the treatment yet?

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I had a different type of cancer to you, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily seen.

When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I've never posted on a forum before so this is new to me. I'll definitely fill in the profile section next. It looks like you've had quite a few run ins with cancer and I do hope you're okay right now? x

  • Hi

Thanks for asking after me. I'm currently nearly at the end of chemotherapy for breast cancer. The last one should be at the end of the month then I'll have a couple of weeks of radiotherapy before, hopefully, being signed off except for yearly mammograms.

    Take care
