Hello, I am new to this site so will give you an overview of what has happened to me and where I am now. I was diagnosed on 3rd December 2020 with Ovarion cancer. I was extremely lucky in the fact it was caught very early. I have a defective gene BRC2 which means I am at high risk of breast and ovarian cancer. In 2016 I had preventative surgery undergoing a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction with no cancer found. I was 45 at the time. In Nov 2020 I went in for preventative surgery for my ovaries to be removed.
However, although CA125 levels were all normal and nothing visible to the naked eye in either scan or surgery, my results came back as having a high grade of microscopic cells in my right fallopian and overy. A hysterectomy followed with 6 cycles of chemo Carboplatin.
I was given the all clear in August 2020. My 3 monthly check ups have all been good. However, today my world has fallen apart as my CA125 Levels are showing 119. They have never been that high.
When I was first diagnosed my levels were normal I.e 18 so I am thinking the worst and worried about what will happen now.
My consultant has said it could be an infection but I am not so sure!
I have had more bloods taken and am waiting for an urgent CT scan. I am terrified it is back and what my future holds , I am 51. I would love to hear from anyone with a similar story?
Hi Bluebear and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm not a member of this group, so don't have the experiences you're looking for, but I noticed that you hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily spotted.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hello, my situation is obviously different to yours, I have been diagnosed with late stage oc, still waiting on my biopsy results and have debulking in a couple of weeks. My ca125 is over 4500, and from what I understand this doesn't necessarily indicate the amount of cancer in the body, just the response your body makes to it being present and isn't a good indicator for everyone, especially if yours was normal at diagnosis. Please don't read too much into the numbers, it could be anything, a cold virus lurking, medication etc. and if you find after your scan it's as feared there are lots of treatments available. I hope it goes well.
