Hi,
I'm new to the page, I was just hoping someone could shed some light on what will happen next.
I've been put on a 2 week wait referral to see gynaecologist as Dr can feel swelling and fluid and I have 'a fair few symptoms' . I am only 30 years old.
I have recieved my app, which is on Tuesday and I am booked in for the CA125 blood test.
Can anyone tell me what to expect at my first appointment with the gynaecologist? Will I get told there and then if they suspect it is cancer? Will I get a scan that same day? If they see anything will I get told on that day? I am going alone as I've not really told anyone as dont want to worry anyone if it is nothing. So I am just abit anxious.
Thankyou for reading. X
Hi nictonb, sorry to hear you are in this situation. It’s hard to say what will happen, I’m recently diagnosed and I went to one of my first appointments thinking I’d get info and they just ‘wanted to meet me’. I would ring the receptionist and try to get some info out of them, they may be able to give you contact details of a nurse you could speak to. Say that you would like to understand what the purpose of the appt is, whether you will have a scan and whether you need someone with you. Good luck, let us know how you get on xx
Hi Louise,
Thankyou so much for your reply. That is a good idea, I may give them a call on monday and ask. I think it's just the whole 'being in limbo' and hearing my gp say the word cancer.
I hope you are doing ok after your diagnosis.
I will keep you updated, always here if you need a chat :) xx
Hi nictonb,
I have found the whole process a little frustrating and slow before a concrete diagnosis was given. The CA125 test was followed by an external and internal ultrasound, which was then followed by a CT scan before they would actually say anything. The waiting is hard, but hang in there; it appears that this is normal process but it is definitely teaching me to improve my levels of patience. Lol.
All the best
Fatface xx
