Recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer which was a total shock I also had fibroids which had calcified so very difficult to remove.i had a total hysterectomy in March which was great as pain disappeared.
I am now having 6 sessions of chemo my third is this week.
I have real difficulty with indigestion and nausea the tablets I was given Metoclopramide make me feel awful .headaches anger so not taking anymore.
Is there something else which doesn't have any real side effects
Thank you for listening.
Hi, your diagnosis is exactly the same as mine. Ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer and I had fibroids for more than 12 years prior to my hysterectomy.
Do you mind me asking what type of ovarian cancer you were diagnosed with? Mine was endometrioid epithelial ovarian cancer. I provide a lot more information in my bio.
Regarding your question as has already been suggested you really should mention the side effects you are having and they should give you something else to help with the nausea which doesn't cause the awful side effects you are suffering from.
I'm not sure what chemo you are on (I was only on carboplatin) and I was given the following anti-sickness tablets to take home with me after my chemo:
- Ondanestron (took these after the first two chemo treatments as thought I had to but had awful constipation and was told the anti-sickness tablets were optional so did not take them again). However, you may not have the same side effect.
- Metoclopramide (these were also given to me in case I needed them in addition to the ondanestron but I didn't need them. These aren't as strong as the ondanestron).
The only time I suffered from nausea was the morning after my treatment but a polo mint helped on those mornings and I was never sick. I preferred not to take the anti-sickness tablets as I didn't really need them and I hated the feeling of being constipated with them.
Your oncologist should be asking you how you feel after every treatment and so should the nurses when you are about to have your treatment so please do mention how you are feeling to them.
