Hi Everyone
I was recently diagnosed with pre cancerous cells in my womb and was advised to have a total hysterectomy (I'm 47 with 4 miscarriages and 2 ectopic pregnancies and a failed ivf attempt under my belt. No children)
I agreed and the op was all set to go ahead the next week, but because I had been having pelvic pain and bleeding, they did a scan and found I had a 8x4x6cm complex cyst, the op was cancelled. I have had a ca125 blood test and am waiting for an mri scan but haven't heard the results of the blood test or when my mri scan is yet. It's been a week and a few days since my blood test and two weeks since the consultant said he was going to arrange an mri scan. I have had ear pain for a few weeks now which effects my neck and jaw and have just realised his could be swollen glands which I'm assuming is connected to the cyst.
I did ring the consultants secretary last week to find out when my scan was and she said she would speed things along but I still haven't heard. I know it hasn't been that long but I'm getting worried and impatient. I just want to know what I'm dealing with and I feel like they have forgotten me.
Should I ring again or just wait a bit longer.?
Thanks for reading this xxx
Hi and welcome to the Online Community. The one thing we all agree on is the endless waiting for scan results and test results is so exhausting. I'm sure they haven't forgotten you - they may have included you on the list for a MDT meeting which happen usually weekly or fortnightly. (Multi Discipline Team meetings consist of Surgeons, Oncologists, CNS, Radiologist, Patholgist etc)
I myself had Womb Cancer and had a keyhole hysterectomy. As I was 67 I also had a BSO - removal of fallopian tubes, ovaries and cervix.
I know it's hard to just sit and wait but I found my Consultants secretary always helpful and we're going into the weekend, give her a call, I'm sure she won't mind.
It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep writing the same thing over and over. You can amend or update it at any time.
To find more information covering diagnosis and treatments there are pages covering most types of cancers which can be found on our Online Information and Support Section.
The Macmillan Support Services also offer lots of information, support, financial guidance or just someone to listen. It’s free to call 0808 808 0000. Most services are available 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two to three working days for replies from our expert team.

Ugh. I'm still waiting. Have rung the Secretary twice but she is no help. I'm getting all these weird pains coming and going in my head and still in my ears. Have had a rash on my stomach and thigh. don't know if it's all connected but I have really had enough. Am going to ring my doctors surgery tomorrow and try and at least speak to a nurse. Sorry for the little moan.
Hi Anne,
I really feel for you, being kept waiting for so long and, whether the things you’re suffering are connected or just coincidental, it’s only natural for you to be worried. So - keep pushing for answers, and don’t feel you have to apologise !
In my own experience, the period of waiting is one of the worst - so really hope you get some answers and a treatment plan soon.
Love Bx
Thank you B xxx. Waiting is really tough. It would be nice if they could give me some sort of update though. I totally get that waiting lists are longer etc but no one has said anything to me. I'm definitely going to speak to a nurse tomorrow. Xxx
Just thought I would give an update. The pains in my head and ears weren't connected. Apparently it was a musculoskeletal disorder, probably caused by me being so stressed. I'm still getting a few ear pains but now I know it's me unintentionally causing it, it hasn't been quite so bad.
I finally got a letter from the consultant today after over six weeks of waiting and thankfully my ca125 is normal at 22. No date for my ct scan yet, but least I know that they haven't forgotten me. I realise how lucky I am and am very grateful that the cyst wasn't cancerous.I feel like I can breathe again for a while.
So pleased to hear your news - you must be so relieved !
Hope your ears are better soon too and you can just get on with enjoying life.
All the best,
love Bx
Thank you B. All the best to you too. Thanks for listening xxx
