Hi just got diagnosed with stage 1c high grade serious ovarian adenocarcinoma.  It all seems a bit surreal.  I have no idea what to expect . I have had surgery they removed a mass 20cm in size  on my Overy.  So they removed my ovaries, Fallopian  tubes and 15 lymph nodes luckily only the mass was cancerous . How do you even start to process all that you are told its mind boggling.

Thanks

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Online Community. This time last year I was going through the mind boggling stage. We all think the "C" word is going to happen to someone else and when it's us it is surreal.

I hope you're making a good recovery after your op and healing OK. I had a different cancer to you (Womb) and last year had a Hysterectomy, BSO & Omentectomy & 6 lymph nodes. Histology graded it as stage 1B, grade 3 serous and I had 3 sessions of Brachytherapy. Just had my 3 three-monthly check-up and all's well.

It's great to read your profile and see you have good support and a positive attitude, that's what we need to get through this. I think initially we all go to pieces a little with the disbelief  - then we straighten up and think we're going to kick the little bugger in to touch!

I'm sure some of the members of this group will be along to say hello soon and offer support.

Wishing you all the best, B xx

  • Hi Mackenzie59,

Just to welcome you really, and to say you will come through the other side... I have just finished the 6 rounds of chemotherapy after a full hysterectomy in Dec and a grade 1c mucinous ovarian cancer diagnosis. my mass was also large 17 x 9 cm.

Its very weird trying to get your head around what you are being told, with time and a good support network it will get easier, I agree you should try to be as honest with yourself and family as much as you can, they do tend to take the lead from yourself. Just make sure you are ok with everyone knowing as we all react differently to the news and some will be forever asking you for updates and questions you may not know the answers to yet.

it’s about 6 weeks to first chemo session, in that time you can prepare by recovering from op , eating well and a positive outlook is essential.

Try to find a hobby to take your mind of the constant mind spinning, and ask away when your ready, lots of ladies have been exactly where you are now and will virtually hold your hand when it gets a bit much,

It’s tough but you will get through to the other side just like I did,

    take care

    Sue

Hi Sue thanks so much for replying.  Yes have to say my mind is spinning so much information  at once its hard to process . I suppose its the fear of the unknown you hear the word  cancer and automatically fear the worse , its only after researching and reading what you lovely ladies are writing in this forum that you realise there is hope and having the support from ladies going through the same as yourself gives you a positive outlook that if they can do it I can too its a very powerful thing.
