Im new to this site just wondering if there is anyone out there that can relate to how i feel and if so how they deal with it,
Its 17 months since i finished treatment for stage 3c ovarian cancer, i had full debulking, omentum removed, lymph nodes and bowel resection then six months after (while still having chemo) i had emergecy bowel resection again as scar tissue had twisted my bowel.
im doing well but suffering with extreme fatigue, some days i cant think straight im so tired and other days im elated and almost feel ‘normal’. I also ache dreadfully.. i had arthritis pre treatment but it seems so much worse since chemo treatment… whilst i will always be grateful, the amazing treatment i have received was second to none just struggling a bit dealing with pain n fatigue. Hi - Welcome to the group, and I hope you find some useful advice and support here.
I’ve only quite recently finished treatment, so still expecting some of the side effects to take a bit longer to go - and I guess this makes them easier to deal with for now. 17 months must feel like a long time though and, although we all understand we may never fully regain the capacity we had pre-treatment, it helps to have a goal to aim for.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll be reluctant to start down the route of more drugs (haven’t we all been pumped full of enough of those already ?!)…..but I’m a big fan of alternative therapies, vitamins/supplements and dietary interventions. Not sure if you’ve explored any of those already? - but wish you all the best in finding something that helps with your aches and fatigue.

Thank you! This has crossed my mind and im thinking of trying acupuncture to deal with the pain. Not thought about supplements, do u have any recommendations .. i eat pumpkin seeds as was told lack of magnesium can be a problem
I started taking a vitamin B complex to combat neuropathy - and have been told that B12 in particular is good for fatigue. If you don’t want to take a supplement, foods rich in B12 include: meat, fish, cheese and eggs. Foods high in iron, such as shellfish, red meat and spinach can also help with fatigue.

The dreaded neuropathy, my toe nails have come off again, not all of them but some on the left foot which is where i have most neuropathy! Will try the b complex to see if thst helps thank you, i try to eat very healthy fresh food every day.. some days i struggle tho as i dont feel particularly hungry. I try to walk as often as possible and was a keen golfer, some days i can manage a few holes which is a bonus, better than nothing but i need to rest for two days after. Will post again
Yes - neuropathy is a pain. Haven’t lost my toenails (yet) - but have it in both feet, mainly the middle 3 toes. Feels like someone has put very tight plasters on them restricting movement . I find they feel very cold too whenever I stop moving around and put my feet up (so I now have special thick socks for evenings as well as a nice fluffy blanket to wrap around !).
Hope you find the vitamin B helps with both your neuropathy and your fatigue……will share any other useful hints and tips I pick up.

Thanks B, does your heart good to know theres someone out there whonunderstands. I got up this morning full of the joys of spring. I felt full of energy and alive!! I danced in the kitchen to songs on the radio (Boom radio, im an oldie… but very young at heart) im now on the sofa in a heap♀️it was worth it tho

Dancing in the kitchen sounds very therapeutic……and if cancer teaches us one thing it’s how to appreciate the little things in life that make us feel good.

Hi Jeno, I’m sorry your on the journey no one wants to take, but hope these little pointers help you. Take BIG knickers, after op you won’t want anything tight touching your wound, earplugs are a big help, wards are busy n it’s difficult to sleep, I took my I pad and listened to relaxation music, a guy by the name of Jason Stephenson sleep talk down was something I listened to throughout my stay in hospital, helped me relax so much. Take peppermint oil drops which you can mix with warm water, helps with wind pain after op. Soft mints to stop your mouth from feeeling dry were a great help to.
