I’ve been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and have been told I need a radical hysterectomy. I have an appointment with my oncologist on Monday. It hasn’t come as a surprise to me as I’ve been checking out things on the internet. However .. I’ve just read something that I hadn’t really taken into account and wonder if anyone can give me information/ help / reassurance. I have a grade 2 prolapse of the bladder , grade 2 of the uterus and grade 1 of the bowel. All been well controlled with a pessary for 5 yrs. I’m now concerned that after the hysterectomy when the other organs move into the new space I shall suffer worse prolapsed. Not of the uterus obviously! So … is it “ incontinence here I come “?? Preferable to cancer but concerning nevertheless.
I can’t guess what your outcome will be but I can tell you what happened to me. The full debulking operation (removal of ovaries, omentum, tubes etc) created space inside and my bladder just settled back in. My prolapse disappeared. And now 8 months on that is still the case.
I really hope the same thing happens for you.
I know everyone is different but that little ray of hope has properly cheered me up ! Thank you
