Hi all, had an MRI on Friday 18th & wondering what other peoples time frames for getting results?
Hi Scarletwitch
It can depend on the hospital, and the availability of the relevant radiography staff to read and interpret the scans and feed back to your doctor. Typically in my own experience of having multiple mri scans it’s been anything from a week to six weeks, but the average wait time was normally about 2 weeks for me.

Thank you for the reply. I'm with the southern trust down in craigavon. I'm thinking that if it's longer wait it's better news. From my 1st appointment till now it's been just over 3 weeks I've had a transvaginal ultrasound, 2 sets of bloods and an mri. I'm sure there just covering all bases. I never ask questions even when they ask of I have any I just panic and say no.
Hi Scarletwitch
I’m in England so only have experience of having tests/diagnosis there in multiple hospitals, but it definitely does depend on the hospital-some are busier than others and may have shortages of staff.
Unfortunately, I don’t think you can read anything, good or bad, into the wait for results as results are normally reported to an mdt meeting (multi disciplinary team) where all those involved in your care meet to discuss each patient and the timing of these meetings depends on each individual hospital. There’s always a wait of some sort.
I understand how difficult it is to think of any questions to ask at the time, but maybe you could write down some of your concerns to ask at any future appointment. In the past, I’ve often thought of something I should have asked but I’ve already left the appointment.
At the moment, they are just doing all the tests they believe are needed to come to a decision about what’s going on, so once you know more, you may think of more questions to ask.

Hi - I had an MRI scan on Tuesday 22nd October at 6:30 pm. I've had a phone call this morning telling me they have my results (3 working days!) and that they can see me in the hospital on Friday 1st Nov (apparently they've had a cancellation - but they have said this about all my appointments and I can't believe that's quite true) I appreciate it being looked at quickly but in all honesty it is scaring me a little.
That's great it's come back so fast. I hope it's all OK. I still haven't heard anything yet. Are you England? I'm Northern Ireland. I'm hopeful my results will be soon...
Hi RothersV
I’ve only ever had results as quickly as this when I’ve been a hospital in patient, but it’s good to be seen quicker than anticipated and get your answers. I hope all goes well for you-please keep us posted with how you get on.

Yes I'm in North Yorkshire. The speed of it is worrying me though if I'm honest. I'm finding it very hard to concentrate at work today. I hope your results come through soon - You didn't mention if you;d had an Urgent referral or not - I know there are time frames that they like to work within if so. I was an urgent referral
I’m sorry you’ve got something else to worry about in addition to what’s going on with your tests. It’s even more stressful for you.
Don’t feel silly for confiding in friends and family-we all deal with things differently, and it can be a lonely place if you have no support around to share those feelings with. I was the opposite and bottled everything up, and, with hindsight, that made things more difficult for me.
