Hi I have been having a ovarian cyst checked for just over a year it is quite big nearly 6cm one way it has got a tiny bit bigger in the year my c125 blood test has been normal. I have been given the option for it to be removed or just leave it, they are going to give me one last scan and blood test in January. I have had 2 other cancers melanoma  and thyroid cancer which both in remission at moment. I just wondered what other people opinions on this or similar experiences. Not sure weather it would bebest to have it removed next year.

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read you have another health issue on top of the melanoma and thyroid cancers and it must be hard to know what to do for the best.

I've had a look through the group and found these posts which mention ovarian cysts for you to have a look through. There are rather a lot but hopefully you'll find a few that relate directly to you.

    Wishing you all the best

  • Hi miss mole I am new to the group I have recently had a ovarian torsion due to a untreated cyst removal and it's ruptured it has also unfortunately for me come back as cancerous ..don't panic through most women's cysts are benign.

If I knew what I knew now and had been given the option of cyst removal I would definitely get it removed I was very poorly when mine ruptured had emergency abdominal surgery and if it had of been removed wouldn't have been as traumatic.

    Hope this helps x

  • Thanks for the reply how big was yours. Were you having it monitored and blood test. I'm considering having it taken out got scan in January  and blood test. I'm just worried because I've already had 2 cancers.

  • It was around 18 cm apparently but it ruptured no they weren't monitoring it or giving me blood tests they didn't know it was gct they did know I had a cyst though from previous years of scan and didn't act on it.

  • Oh sorry for your bad news mine is 5.8cm. So it could get bigger as years go on and cause problems I've been having it checked for a year. They said they don't check it after a year, you would of thought they would scan it once a year to see any change. Gynecologist has not even seen me in person only on phone call.
