After a post meno bleed I had an ultrasound and TVS and two hysteroscopies. The scans showed thickening of the endometrium, a very large polyp and an ovarian cyst. A biopsy was taken of the cyst in the first hysteroscopy and that was clear. At the same time a CA-125 blood test was carried out. Two weeks ago I had a second hysteroscopy with a myosure polypectomy and a mirena coil was fitted. I was told to go to the surgery at the end of the month for a second CA125.
I had to wait a while for an appointment for a blood test and saw the nurse today. I asked if she could tell me the level of CA125 from the blood test in January but she couldn't, only that it was raised and "they probably saw something they are concerned about with the cyst". All the other blood tests were clear but I don't know what they were.
My question is: has anyone else had a raised CA125 and a cyst but not needed further treatment? It is going to sound ridiculous but there are two big family events happening this summer - a wedding and a new baby in the family - and I don't want to take the focus off of those things.
Hi Mrsbonzo
Welcome to our community, I saw your post and looking at our page on CA125 we can see "The level of CA125 can also be raised due to non-cancerous conditions and other types of cancer." - so the primary answer is not always.
One thing the doctors will want to work out fairly quickly is whether it is cancer or not and at the moment you are in the "maybee" - and most on here would agree pretty much the most difficult part of the whole process.
Lovely to hear about the things in your family though, totally understand the worry.
<<hugs>>
Steve
I am just cross with myself for not asking questions when I was at the clinic. I was so stressed about the hysteroscopy procedure (although I was fairly confident that it would be clear - as it seems to be so far) I didn't even ask anything about the cyst or possible next steps.
I realise that there was a mistake in my first post. The biopsies have all been for the womb and polyp - not the cyst.
