Morning all I was diagnosed with oc last July 3c. Had 4 chemos, laporoscopy followed by debulking and a bowel resection then the other 2 chemos. Good news that there was no visable cancer was over shadowed by being told I had this mass, as you can imagine I went into melt down. The oncologist informed me it's nothing to worry about but has anyone else experienced this and what happened. Thanks
Hi Foxygirl, what do you mean by a mass? If you are being told you are cancer free, is this some type of non cancerous thing? When I had my scan, I was told initially I just had residual cancer on my omemtum but when I queried this because the omemtum was removed during my operation, they realised it was just scar tissue. Will you be getting another scan to clarify what the mass is?
Thanks for getting back to me I was told it was a mass that was a cyst only filled with fluid, as you can imagine I can't get my head round it, the oncologist assured me that it was nothing to worry about but I am. I had my first avastin last week with olabarb 300mg twice daily so as usual a bit flat mood wise.
Can’t say I have heard of this but I was told early on that tumours tended to be solid and that fluid filled cysts can just drain away so if your oncologist is saying it is nothing to worry about, that is reassuring. I am not on either of the drugs you mention but have been on/off niraparib which is another parp inhibitor. It seems like they all have side effects. All you can do is focus on the positives. There is no visible cancer!!!! I find that having targets really helps me post chemo. Just things to look forward to in the near future that you can focus on. Hopefully, when you next have a scan, the mass will have gone. Fingers crossed.
Thank you it's exactly what I'm trying to do I think it's just this week I always mulled over everything the first week after treatment, just need to give myself a good talking to. Chin up onwards and upwards.
