my gorgeous mum is 85 diagnosed with Stage 3c nearly two years ago, surgery not an option, she was amazing through her chemo and responded for a year on PARP inhibitors - recent bloods show a increasing change - scared and frightened - any advice please xx

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read that you mum's CA125 levels are increasing. It must be a very worrying time for you both.

As I have a different type of cancer I don't have any advice for you but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily seen.

If you haven't already you could type something like 'rising CA125 level' into the search bar at the top of the page to look for previous posts which mention this. After reading through some of them you could reply to any of the more recent posters if you think they can help you further.

While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Snowwhit,

Sorry to hear about your mum, CA125 increase could be due to an infection of some sort. If not then I would think that the Oncologist would advise a CT scan to see what exactly is going on..

I have endometrial cancer which was grade 2A & high grade fallopian tube cancer, the latter being  treated the same as ovarian. I did have surgery in 2015 ,which was followed by 4 rounds of chemo, carbo/taxol. After 4.5 years in 2020 I had a recurrence of the fallopian tube cancer which was treated with carbo/gemsar, and then  treated with a parp inhibitor, for just over a year. March this year I have raised lymph nodes near lungs and one on the peritineum. So I started chemo again on 4th April this time carbo/caelyx,which I am hoping will work.

What I am trying to say is there probably are more chemo options, particularly if your mum is fit in other ways. If I were you I would definitely ask this question of your Oncologist. Alternatively your mum could get a second opinion at a cancer centre.

I hope this helps, and that you get answers regarding your mum shortly. Georgette x
