I am recovering from full hysterectomy 4 weeks ago and everything seemed to be healing pretty well, but I am still in pain taking paracetamol and ibrufen every day . Now I have started waking up every hour during the night with chronic pains in my lower back. Doctor says no water infection just things still settling down. Had anyone else experienced this chronic back pain, it is making me so sick because of the pain .

  • Hi . I'm from the Womb Cancer group and I just noticed your post. A lot of ladies suffered continued pain after their hysterectomy. Some more than most. Did you have abdominal or keyhole? The reason I ask is the position we were put in during keyhole caused shoulder pains as well as lower back pain. It eased eventually but being in chronic pain isn't good.

I would give your CNS a call for reassurance and ask your GP for stronger pain relief. I know Ibuprofen and paracetamol don't touch the sides sometimes.

Sending you gentle hugs and hope you get some ease soon.

    Bxx

I had keyhole to start but then he needed to do abdominal so I had both. I spoke to my gp but he won’t give me stronger painkillers as I am waiting for my follow up appt on Thursday for the biopsy results. Painkillers seemed to work last night so I am hoping it is easing. Thank you for your reply

    Hi Chicago25,

When I had my surgery (which was having the 11cm/ 3 and a half lbs tumour removed and one ovary and one tube and half my omentum) I also suffered back pain which was so awful.  What did the pains feel like and are they still there?

Hope to hear from you soon

    X

They have gone now thankfully and pain was really bad. Doc gave me suppositories stronger than ibrufen
