Hi, did does anyone have fluid build up in their abdomen it was the main reason I went to see my GP, I look like I'm about 8 months pregnant and it's so uncomfortable!! Did they drain the fluid or will it go once treatment starts??

Hi Sharon,
I also first went to my GP due to build up of abdominal fluid, and still had it in some degree until I had my surgery and a drain was fitted for a few days. I know some people do have to have fluids drained down separately to having an op - and hopefully your medical team will abe able to advise whether this would be right for you.
I found that reducing my salt and alcohol intake really helped, and also not drinking big glasses of water before or with meals, or close to bedtime.
All the best, and hope you get some relief soon,

Thank you Barbara, it's the waiting for my treatment plan seems to be taking so long 5 weeks since first appointment but it seem so much longer and I keep thinking the longer it's taking the bigger e tumour must be getting, of course I have no proof that this is the case but my mind is working overtime xx
Hi Sharon,
I remember how hard it was just waiting for a plan and next steps back in the early stages of diagnosis. I’m afraid there’s no magic solution to stop all that’s going through your mind or bring forward all the things that are outside your control - but all I can say, from my own experience is that if you can try to focus on things you can control - keeping as active and occupied as you can, giving yourself a few treats (favourite foods, films, a nice bath, nail manicure, etc), I found that helped me get through.
Hoping you won’t have too much longer to wait for your treatment plan, and that you’ll feel calmer when you know the next steps.

Thank you Barbara I appreciate your getting back to me, I've got an appointment tomorrow for some Indian head massage and reiki I'm so looking forward to it xx
Great idea - hopefully it will help you relax and feel better able to cope with everything
Bxx
