Back in November 2020 I was hospitalised with sepsis! I have had extensive gynea issues! I have had CIN3, VIN3 and I also have stage 4 deep infiltrating endometriosis! I had an abscessed mass! A mass that had abscessed, not an abscess that caused a mass! I was given antibiotics and discharged from hospital with the follow up being to rescan at 6 weeks to make sure the infection had gone? No idea why 6 weeks! Anyway I got messed around by the NHS, and was just about to be forced to wait a further 6 weeks on top of the 6 weeks I was supposed to wait, to end up at GAU, where I was given an ultrasound that showed a very complex mass! I went straight to MDT that week and was called in the following day! The plan is full hysterectomy and removal of at least this ovary. Nothing has actually been said, other than, this is what I need..... Which is great, ok sign me up! BUT then I was told I have to go for an emergency MRI, back to MDT then they’ll contact me to organise this treatment they have already deemed I need?
So my MRI is Tuesday! All I know is my consultant is going to phone me after the MDT! I don’t know if it’ll be the Thursday after the MRI, or the following week! The C word has not been used! In fact, nothing has been explained to me! My cancer markers are normal, which I know can mean I don’t have cancer, or I still could have cancer!
What I’m asking, are the hospital assuming cancer? Is that why they’ve already got a treatment plan in place? But, if it is, why are they awaiting further scans? It’s all confusing! Thankfully my Endo specialist is also an oncologist, so I’m under a surgeon that knows me well.. As surgically, I am a very complex case *frozen pelvis*
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
It sounds like you've had a great deal to contend with over the last few months and it's no wonder you're feeling frustrated with everything.
It sounds like after the original MDT meeting it was decided that another MRI was needed. Hopefully, the team involved will then have enough information when they next meet to put a concrete treatment plan in place. It would also be at this point when they'll be able to tell you if they've found cancer or not and what treatment you'll be having.
I know how horrible waiting for test results can be so try to divert yourself in the meantime. I know that's easier said than done with the current restrictions but do you have any interests you can pursue at home or can you arrange virtual coffee mornings with friends over Skype, etc?
Do come back and let us know how you get on
x
Thank you for your reply! I am actually trying to keep as busy as possible, but unfortunately not seemed to have bounced back from the sepsis yet! I am still battling with my weight, and my usual daily Endo/chronic pelvic pain, that is now twice what it was! My MRI is tomorrow!
The thing is, which is worrying me the most, is I didn’t just wake up with Sepsis one day! I was going downhill for a while! So much so I requested a pelvic MRI back in March last year! I then, requested hormone tests because I honestly thought I was going through menopause! Then I’m like ‘hellooooo I’m now losing weight’... That was long before the pelvic pain! Then one day I just casually started with immense pain that lasted 5 days!.. Theb it eased, then I had my time of month, which lasted 5 days, then 2 days after that the fevers started, but very transiently, then day after that I knew I was dying! I spent 5 days in hospital, and on last day, before I was discharged I had 3 stood at end of my bed going through the list of things it could be! That was back in November!
I stayed with my Endo consultant, as I’m under BSGE, and if it was Endo, I wouldve had to go to him anyway! But got fobbed off til GAU gave me an emergency ultrasound! Now no one is guessing anymore, they’re actually keeping it to themselves! No one will label it!
I feel like I’m on a knife edge, to be fair! Although Drs think the sepsis wasn’t even connected, when in fact, I knew it was going to happen, because I felt my health decline! So I’m worried I’ll get to that point again!
but I am trying to keep busy for sure, best I can, with masses amount of leg/back/pelvic pain xx
