Hi everyone

I'm so glad I came across this group. Obviously I knew of Macmillan but didn't think I'd need to use it. I went for an urgent blood test today for the ca125, for probably the last 6 montbs but definitely not daily I've been getting bloating and back pain. The previous 2 doctors I have spoken to said its probably IBD so treated it as such. My iron levels were low also so I was put on tablets which have made me constipated so my bowel habits have changed although I've always suffered with constipation. I was tired a lot but iron tablets have helped. Is the doctor just being very cautious or should I worry. My back has been really hurting today but I was using an abdominal exerciser and don't think that helped. I stupidly looked at every symptom online of ovarian cancer so am now petrified. Any advice would be amazing xxx

  • Hi,

Sorry you find yourself here but hoping this group will be able to offer you some support and reassurance at this difficult time.

I remember feeling scared like you when I first started down the route of doctors appointments, blood tests, scans, etc, and can only say that whatever the results turn out to be, having a plan in place and some expert answers to the million questions going around in your head is far less scary than the period of not knowing.

Meanwhile, I know it’s hard, but I definitely recommend keeping away from “Dr Google” as the information you’ll find there is likely to be outdated and not reflective of the developments happening all the time in this field.

Wishing you all the best for your test results,

    Bx

Thankyou so much, yes you are definitely right waiting for test results seems scarier. Like you said having a p'an if the worst does happen seems to make more sense xx

  • So sorry you're having this worry - let's hope that the test is simply precautionary.  As others have said, the worst is definitely the uncertainty and waiting for results, but if it's any small comfort I can tell you that from my experience if the worst does happen they don't hang around and you will be very well looked after very quickly.    As B.positive says - definitely stay away from google!   Good luck and try to stay positive x

Hopefully you’ve had your results by now - and fingers crossed they were negative. But if it looks like being cancer, we’re here for you!

Hi everyone, I am very happy to report the test came back negative. I know you will all know what a relief this is. I have an autistic son and a daughter, there dad is so not understanding of my son. We aren't together anymore. My mum is the only person who understands him. The thought of me being poorly and possibly them growing up without me was to much to bear. Thank you all so much. Sending you all so much love xxx
