Recurrent cancer

Hi

I’ve had a cancer diagnosis recently following a total hysterectomy and been told all the tumour was removed with  no sign of spreading. I’ve got an appointment on Monday to know what chemo I will need. My cancer correlated to previous small vowel cancer I had in 2018 so I do not know yet if I may be given the same chemo (which had to be reduced due to side effects). Hair loss was not part of this chemo. I was just wondering whether anyone else may have had such a secondary cancer diagnosis? My ovarian tumour was present when I had bowel op but was reported to have gone smaller at my first check up scan in 2019 do nothing was done.  I had no knowledge of this tumour at all and only knew from my GP who saw it on my file notes when I experienced some pain in June!

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read that you've recently discovered that your bowel cancer has spread to your ovaries. It must be a very stressful time for you but hopefully you'll learn more tomorrow at your consultation.

I don't have any experience with chemotherapy for bowel cancer which has spread but I was passing and noticed that your post hadn't had any response.

I can see that you also posted this question in the bowel cancer group and I wondered if you'd seen the responses you'd had. If not, clicking here will take you straight there.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Sorry to hear this. Is it possible the ovarian tumour was there first? I wonder why they did not address that at the time. Not so good communication between the professions sadly.
