Ovarian cyst

Hello

I have just found out that I have a small cyst on my left ovary. It was discovered when I had  TV scan to investigate a pmb. I am 56 years old. They think the bleed is due to menopause and the HRT I am on possibly needs adjusting. Last September I had a lletz procedure after a cervical screening and also had a cervical polyp removed. The polyp was benign and the lletz revealed only mild cell changes which was a discrepancy from the screening which revealed severe high grade changes. They kept a close eye on me but think that menopause may have made the screening seem worse than it was.  Therefore they advised me to start HRT. Have TV oestrogen twice a week & also progesterone tablet and oestrogen gel daily. They think I may just need to get the gel dosage right to prevent another bleed or increase the TV dose but have to discuss this with GP.

I am due another TV scan in 4 months to check on the cyst. Has anyone else had this? Apologies to those of you who are in much more difficult circumstances. Many thanks for any replies.

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read that you have recently discovered that you have a small cyst on your ovary. Please don't apologise for posting as your concerns and worries are just as valid as anyone else's.

I don't have any experience of this to share but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. If you type 'cyst' into the search bar in this group you'll find lots of previous posts which mention cysts. You could have a look through those and reply to any of the more recent ones if you think the poster might be able to help you further.

Do come back and let the group know how you get on in 4 months time.
