Hi everyone I'm new to the group and just looking for advice/support. I'm 45 years old  was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in Jan this year. Had total hysterectomy in Feb and then x1 of chemo in March  before it was cancelled due to Covid 19. My cancer was grade 1 c so Oncologist has now decided just to monitor me rather than complete the chemo.  Trying to get on with my life but really struggling with fatigue. Even after a good night's sleep wake up feeling exhausted. Has anyone else experienced this? Really getting me down now so any suggestions of things that could help will be appreciated!! Thanks Bib xxx

  • Hi Bib welcome to the forum I saw your post and dont normally come into this group but wanted to make sure you had a response as it sounds like you are worrying about this fatigue.

I dont know a great deal about the type of Cancer that you have had but what I do know is that your body has been through a really rough time and with chemo even short sessions it is going to take you time to get back to some degree of feeling like you again.

You seem to be only about 10 weeks post treatment which is very early on in the recovery process so feeling fatigued I would say is pretty par for the course but it will get better and thats what you have to look forward to but it can take a few months yet Take it easy and take care of yourself the energy will return when the batteries have been recharged.

Sending very best wishes your way for now.xxxxx

    Hi Bib,

I am 51 and had my first chemo session last Friday. Today is the first day where I feel relatively OK but the fatigue was really noticeable. I know you have only had one actual treatment but you went through a lot with surgery, emotional upset and then basically poisoned your poor body on top! I think you should definitely go easy on yourself right now and if you feel tired then rest. Keep your life simple for a bit and allow yourself to come to terms with all that has happened. I had a full hysterectomy myself at the beginning of May and I am having 6 sessions of chemo. Tbh I have found this past week really tough. The nausea, bone pain and exhaustion has been intense. It will just take time for your body to heal itself. Have you returned to work? If you have, could you reduce your hours or days? Even if that could be agreed for a few months it might help you regain your strength. Don't try to be the person you were straight away. Rest as much as you can and take time for yourself. Gradually you will get stronger.... I am sure! I had breast cancer 7 years ago and had surgery and chemo. I now have ovarian cancer (unconnected to the breast cancer). It takes so much out of you. Be kind to yourself. Lots of luck, Claire x
