Hi everyone
I’ve just joined Macmillan, I’ve found out I’ve got a mixed germ cell tumour, ovarian cancer.
it’s apparently very rare and wondering if anyone else on here has experienced it?
I’m 31 and was told it was a dermoid cyst, which I had removed 6 weeks ago. The histology came back and I was told last week it’s a malignant mixed germ cell.
I am waiting for MDT to confirm my staging and grading which is making me very anxious and then I will get a treatment plan.
I have hundreds of questions for the oncologists so hoping I get some answers soon and a plan!
Toria
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with an ovarian cancer which is very rare and it's natural that you'd want to try and find others who have had the same diagnosis.
If you type 'germ cell' into the search bar of this group you will find a few previous posts which mention this type of ovarian cancer but they're mostly very old so the posters might no longer use this community. You could have a read through them though.
Waiting for the results of tests is always very stressful and I'd normally suggest that you get out there and do whatever you enjoy doing to take your mind off things. However, that's not so easy to do at the moment so you might need to employ other distraction techniques.
Quite a lot of people use mindfulness and this link will take you to the NHS mental health apps page with links to download apps, some of which are free.
You might also like to take a look at this on how to ease worry when waiting for medical test reults.
When you have a minute it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Do come back and let us know when you have a treatment plan.
