Sorry to hear your wife is suffering. It took chemo no. 2 to stop the build up of fluid in my stomach. We need to drink at least 2.5 litres a day. I know it sounds counter-productive, but it flushes the system through and hopefully rid the oedema problems. Does she have blood pressure or any other issues? If she is happy down stairs, fine. When she feels better (which she will) then she will go back to sleeping in a bed. I was like this to start with, but now after 5 chemo's am virtually back to normal. Best wishes. Jan. x.
Thanks for the reply. The swollen stomach she copes with, it is swollen feet that cause the problem as she feels they are to heavy to move, she struggles to lift them to get upstairs and when she gets out of bed for toilet I have to get her back into which upsets her. 2nd round of chemo due soon so may help.
Hi, my husband use to help me out of bed to start with, it does get better. Just keep drinking, it will flush the system and should help the water retention and to try walk as much as possible. Also elevate the legs when sitting. But your wife will be seeing her Oncologist soon. Things improved for me after chemo no. 2. x.
