Pre-assessment

Hi,

I have been booked in for surgery on Saturday to have an ovarian cancer removed. The tumour has pushed in to my bowel also, therefore this will involve bowel surgery as well. I haven't yet heard about a pre-assessment which is leaving me a bit concerned as I know that I may need to follow a specific diet and possibly have antibiotics.

Just wandering whether I'm being a bit premature with my concerns?

Thanks in advance,

Trudyx

  • Hello Trudy  ,

Sorry you have this extra worry before the surgery . You should have had the Pre-o p by now .Maybe the hospital has missed a step . I have had pre-ops over the phone at times .

It would be wise to ring your surgeons secretary for an update on this . You can usually find the number on the hospital website.

Praying  all goes well for you . Two hearts

  • Thank you Zillah

I'll give the secretary a call.

    Warm regards,

  • Hi Trudy

I had my pre-assessment the day before my surgery,I think this was because of a short time from my CT scan results and surgery.I also had meeting with stoma nurse the same day as there was a chance I may have needed bowl surgery.I agree with Zillah you could always give them a ring just to check and put your mind at rest.

    Good luck

  • Hi Fluffycat69,

Thank you for that. That's reassuring.

I've given them a call now and will have a pre-assessment tomorrow. This is good because I think I'll need bowel prep as well.

Thanks again both of you for your advice.
