My mother has possible ovarian cancer. Her tumour makers are raised and the ultrasound shows a ‘mass.’ It feels like we are waiting forever for the MRI referral. The specialist requested it Monday and it is now Thursday and we’ve not heard anything yet.
I feel so helpless and lost. I have no words of comfort for her and don’t know what to do. The number of unknowns at this point are driving me crazy. I just wish we had answers so could start the treatment and know where things are headed.
how long have others had to wait for their official diagnoses. The NHS website says 28 days, but I’m losing track!
I would phone … the CT or MRI department or the specialists secretary … also try not to panic too much a mass can be removed and there’s a lot they can do … I had my mass discovered in April and had surgery in May and was diagnosed on June 6th after they’d investigated the mass and associated lymph nodes etc I was told the minute the CT scan results came in that it was “possibly” cancer I had no raised markers blood test was normal …. Hope it all goes well best thing you can do for your mum is be there for her and tell her you love her xx
