Good evening ladies I'm just wondering if there are others spending Christmas alone while awaiting treatment or having treatment .I'm currently waiting for a complete hysterectomy with Appendectomy and Omentectony after the oncologists saying they think i have cancer my op is the 13th January
I do have a partner but I have made him buy a ticket and fly back home to see his family as he's not seen them for 8 months .he feels terrible about this and refused to go and although I'm anxious I will not show it as he has been working and looking after me he deserves a break.
until my diagnosis a week ago or more things have been really stressful and now we think we know what we are dealing with I think i will be okay .I do suffer pain daily ,anxiety and get short of breath and eating has to be slow and smaller portions now
aslong as I don't eat large meals or get stressed as when I do it's a vist to the hospital with extreme vomiting and anxiety.
I'm going to buy myself a small Christmas tree this weekend and I plan to spend the 3 weeks my partner is away having lots of rest and self care and getting my spiritual well-being ready for my sugerys..
I spent last year alone too and it really was a beautiful experience I really hope I can be well during this time and some good can come out of this obviously I'm just anxious as he's been my only main support. I know i have the hospital around the corner its not open at night but I guess it's just the thought of having no one around .
Hi Sophia78 welcome to the forum.. That's a very selfless and thoughtful thing you have done for your partner. So long as that doesn't leave you completely anxiety filled then things should be OK. I do hope that you manage to get some rest and get your spiritual well being ready for the surgery. I'm.not sure if you know or not but Macmillan have a helpline that is open daily 8am.-8pm though I'm not sure yet what the process is for over the festive season. 08088080000. Best wishes for now..
