Hi,
Feeling in a muddle tonight.
I'm under the Gynae Oncology team but don't yet have a diagnosis, was seeing Gynaecologist for heavy periods that my GP didn't know how to treat due to previous breast cancer. Had had an ultrasound in July which showed a 'simple cyst' slightly larger than normal but not a cause for concern, advice was rescan in 3 months. In meantime, I was referred to gynaecology who requested blood tests ans d a hysteroscopy.
Hysteroscopy came back normal but Ca125 came back 'slightly raised', I don't know the numbers yet, so was referred for a CT scan.
Got a call a few weeks ago from specialist nurse saying I'd been referred to Gynae Oncology, CT shows a 4.7 cm lesion on left hand of womb (is this the cyst?!), they don't know if benign or not, and that I would need a hysterectomy, she said consultant appointment would be sent out.
I now have pre-op assessment tomorrow but don't see consultant until Wednesday. Which seems a bit back to front!
In recent experience, how long is pre-op before surgery date?
Xxö
Hi, sorry you find yourself in this situation, it’s a pity the appointments are back to front. My situation was different I had a diagnosis before surgery, but there are many that need surgery first to find out what going on. It does sound like things are moving fast which is emotionally challenging . From my experience pre op assessment was around a week before the operation . Sure there will be others on here who will share their experience. Hope you get answers to your questions soon. Best wishes. Xx
Thanks for replying. Had my appointment this morning and nurse said surgery should be within 2 weeks as the blood tests don't last long, I'm seeing consultant next week who will give me a date, she thought the following week.
She mentioned that everything is contained to ovary on scans which I think is a good thing.
Only 5 days more waiting. I can do this!
Hi , good that you have more information and whatever is found it’s contained that’s really positive . You can do this, scary I know with everything happening so quickly, the sooner the operation the quicker you will know for sure what’s going on. In the meantime take it easy and be kind to yourself.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
