Hi LK11
It is very natural to be nervous before chemotherapy.
I had carboplatin and paclitaxel chemo for endometrial cancer in 2022.
It was nothing as bad as I feared it would be. The first one is the worst as you are not sure what to expect but I am sure you will be very well looked after, as I was.
The chemo unit for me was arranged into bays of 6 reclining chairs and it was light and airy. There was a calm atmosphere. Take something to do with you- magazine, tablet, phone etc but I found I snoozed on and off a lot of the time. We had volunteers that came round regularly with hot and cold drinks, biscuits and sandwiches.
I found that some of the premeds- especially piriton made me sleepy.
They will understand that you are feeling nervous- but I found the hardest bit was walking through the door- once in I felt ok. I didn't feel particularly unwell or anything on the day- just tired. I felt very tired the next few days but then gradually improved. Any side effects I had were on the whole managed with medication and support.
Good Luck for tomorrow.
Jane
