Hi again Hullfran …. looking back your last post I recon that you are about 3 months post your last treatment.
Treatments like The Red Devil are very strong and the post treatment side effects can last significantly longer and much longer than you would think.
I had a brick sized mass in my neck and even now….. some 12 years out from my main chemo I still have aches and pains in the area where my mass was and the aches and pains can radiate up and down my left side… All scanned and checked and put down to damaged muscles and nerves.
Unexplained infections are also a part of post treatment life….. but I have developed the ability to identify these and I actually have 2 sets of on the shelf antibiotics (on repeat prescription) I can take to catch these infections before they develop further…… and during these infections my neck lymph-nodes can be like splat a mole ;)
Hi highlander thanks for ur quick response may I ask was cancer u had its so good to speak to people that understand
Hi Fran….. I was diagnosed over 26 years ago…… in 1999 age 43 with a rare (8 in a million) hard to treat incurable type of slow growing Low-Grade NHL (Cutaneous T-Cell NHL)
In mid 2012 I was diagnosed with Asbestos.
In Oct 2013 I was diagnosed with a second rare (4 in a million) more aggressive fast growing High-Grade NHL (Peripheral T-Cell NHL) taking me to stage 4.
April 2026 I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer……. so I know what it is like to live with cancer.
Adriamycin/Doxorubicin/Red Devil/Red Bull can cause all sorts of difficulties. It is known for "hand and foot" syndrome, in which the palms and soles of the feet become inflamed and red, or worse. In men, it can also attack the genitalia. There is a lifetime limit, as it can lead to cardiac toxicity. I had two forms of it in two successive regimens. It was not pretty, but was survivable. It will indeed take some time before the inflammation and edema receded into the past. There is a preparation generically called "magic mouthwash" which deadens the oral cavity and makes eating and swallowing much easier. Basically, this is a time in which we must tough it out, knowing that better times lie just ahead.
