  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to this corner of the Community but I am sorry to see you joining us.

I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.

For context I have been on my Lymphoma journey for over 26 years first diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43……. when my first rare (8 in a million) ‘incurable’ but treatable slow growing Low-Grade Cutaneous T-Cell Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL) was found.

I eventually reached Stage 4a in Oct 2013 when a second, also rare (4 in a million) type of very aggressive High-Grade Peripheral T-Cell NHL was then presenting so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ may be different I most definitely appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

What exact type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma do you have?
on the way I couldnt stop shaking and felt really cold
I am sure that you told the team once you got to your treatment centre - what did they say.
Feeling cold and shivering is often the sign of an infection so keep an eye on your temperature….. and yes I experienced this over my years of treatment.
    later couldn't stop sneezing
….. have you lost your hair?….. I lost (all) my 3 times over my treatment, thus included my nasal hair so I was continually sneezing and had permanent run nose.
But these treatment do open us up to other issues….. a simple one can be a reaction to pollen reactions / Hay fever……. I certainly experienced this but all clear up once treatment was complete.

This all sounds rather normal…… and positive….. as you have not said you have been sick or had any reactions - let’s look for this positive direction to continue.

I had 6 cycles of R-EPOCH between Dec 2013 to April 2014…. CHOP is basically the same drugs as my R-EPOCH but had the addition of other very strong drugs to make the treatment very aggressive.

My chemo had me in Hospital for the 6 cycles….. each cycle required me to be connected to my 2 IV pumps 24/7 for 5 nights/6 days at a time for over 120hrs….. but the treatment did what it needed to do.

Although I needed other treatments I am now 10 years 8 months out from my last treatment, turned 70 last Nov and getting on with life.

    also lost so much  weight

I lost 27kgs over my treatments, but I had the extra that it made no significant difference but as the weight keep going down I was seen by a Dietitian who put me on a high protein diet.

Do talk this through with your team as they can get you to see a Dietitian to get advice….

    Where do you live  ?

Any questions just ask… ((he gs))

  • Hi thankyou for reply ifoud this second round knocked me off my feet seezing and nose running andi got the shakes feltcold will i stopseezing,I live in Nottinghamshire

  • You need to check with your clinical team if it’s ok to take some antihistamines incase your are actually suffering from hay fever.

    Have you lost your hair?

I found that I was more cold even during the summer….. chemotherapy can temporarily thin our blood resulting feeling more cold.

  • The big fish fingers sound great.

So there is a good chance that you have lost the hair inside your nose - this leads to a regular runny nose.

You can go in past your local pharmacy and talk with the pharmacist as they may be able to help you out.
