Hi all I am 8 months out of my treatment for non Hodgkin's lymphoma it has left me angry and I have no patience hopefully in time it will get better.

  • Hi again  and well done finding your way over to this group.

I did not introduce myself in your other post, I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups. I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ may be different from your I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

I can understand the anger and impatience you are experiencing...... being diagnosed with NHL then navigating a treatment journey can be very challenging. I have had a barrowload of treatments over my time.... some very full on and I think I could have become angry and definitely lost my patience as it took over 17 years before we found a treatment that got me into remission that lasted more than 9 months at the longest (See my story).... but I was able to control my emotions and turned any anger I had against the unwanted guest that had taken residence in my body...... and focused on the good that was waiting for me as I moved forward.

You may find it helpful to make a cuppa and have a look at this great paper After Treatment Finishes - Then What? by Dr Peter Harvey as it highlights the post treatment milestones..... I often have a read though the paper to remind me that the post treatment journey is a process that can take time..... but it does improve with time.
