Hi Guys, this is my first time on this support page, this is my mums second cancer diagnosis for non hodgkins. This second time i have found it harder to deal with then the first, so i’ve come on here for some support from others Heart

  • Hi again , sorry to hear that your mum’s Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL) has returned but for some types of NHL Relapse is unfortunately part of the journey.

I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low Grade NHL eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 so although my NHL ‘type’ may be different from your mum’s I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

Over my first 16 years I relapsed multiply times but fortunately when it comes to NHL there are many levels of treatment that are very effective.

Do you know the exact type (name) of your mum’s NHL and any treatment she is going to have as this information would help us to support you more effectively.

  • thank you for the message, i’m sorry to hear about your journey as well, but proud of how well you’re fighting it. Erm at the moment i can’t remember the name of it (i’m not very good at medical terminology) i’ll have to find out! but it’s great to have this support

  • Please don’t feel sorry for me, yes it’s pants (my granddaughters words) to have had my NHL and been treated for over 23 years (see the link to my story at the bottoms)….. but I have a few good friends who are suffering Parkinson’s and MS and unlike my NHL where there is lots of treatment options they don’t have that luxury.

Yes do try and find out the exact name of her non-Hodgkin lymphoma as this information is important as we can help better with this information and her treatment name as well.

    Always around to chat.
