Hi, ok first day over the appointment was for RCEOP 1st cycle (81 Red 1 T Red, no idea what that means but first day went well. Problem I had is with my diabetes with all the drips and everything else that was going on I forgot about taking my glucose level, had it check in the afternoon and it was 14.7 (I don’t usually take it in the afternoon and they said it was ok). However, took it this morning and it was 14.7 usually 6.2 or there about’s, but apart for that great up to now.
Hi princejim and well done navigating your first treatment.
The first few treatments are a voyage of discovery and we often wait....even look for the problems and side effects to come along and nothing much happens....... but it can as you have experienced, be the normal rhythm of life that get interrupted.
I am not diabetic but know others who were when going through treatment so you do need to make sure that things are ok as the treatments can upset the bodies normal metabolism and when in any doubt do talk with your medical professionals.
Thanks Mike trying to get through to my GP's diabetic nurse at the moment just to check.
I had a few 'new' medical challenges come along over my 22 years journey and it was challenging at times to distinguish between each symptom...... in the early days I related everything to my cancer and treatment but eventually managed to add a filter to my thinking. Hope you get though soon.
Getting through the first day means you are now familiar with the lay of the land in there and know what to expect to see, hear, and experience when you walk in next time.
About forgetting things: for me this became an issue during chemo, so I took to making lists, either pen to paper or on the phone, so that I did not have to remember everything. Of course I then have to remember to look at the list....
