Does anyone else suffer with really low blood pressure? It's common for me to be as low but the last few months ive been as low as the mid 80s and I'll be honest is causing me problems. I feel light headed and dizzy a lot! And on the odd occasion I have been known to pass out. The doctors know about it and they have put me on some medication but it's not really working. I'm also trying to drink more but that only helps slightly. Does anyone have any tips to help raise it?
  • Not really, but do put various coping strategies into place, when getting up from lying, sit for a while on the edge of the bed.......when standing from sitting, get to the edge of the seat first and sit upright, unsupported before standing up, then make sure you can hold onto something solid till you feel able to make a move. Stairs can also cause a bit of a wobble at times, also bending over to do up shoes etc, try to think it out carefully before you act! Keep safe x

I often have low blood pressure. Usually in the 89s and 90, sometimes it goes even lower.  I ended up in the hospital Tuesday because my blood pressure dropped I blacked out. Fell to the ground and somehow broke both my tibia and fibula. I had surgery by 9am and now have a steal rod in the Center of my tibia.  They said the fibula would heal without doing anything. I have 20 staples.  10 directly on the knee, 5 on the tibia near the near and 5 on my inside ankle.  Been home two days no cast just crutches. I see an Occupational therapist and a physiotherapist next week sometime. My low blood pressure I believe is directly related to my Mantle Cell Lymphoma.

    take care.

  • Good grief. Do take care and get better soon.

  • Hi , so sorry to hear this and I do hope that you heal well and can get about as best as you can.

I have lived with low-ish blood pressure all the way through my last 6 years of treatment but have developed an ability to recognise when it’s low and take precautions.

It’s scary when you drop like a brick and the times that this happened I fortunately have landed safely every time.

    Stay safe and stay connected.

  • Last time I had it checked the Nurse said have you always had low blood pressure ?

As it's something I don't check myself how would I know.

Yes I also get dizzy if I bend down quickly and also get light headed sometimes.

But I have never been the sort to go to the Doctors over every niggle.

It's bad enough when you have something serious.

  • Hi again  how much water are you drinking in a day?........I am on strick orders to drink at least 3-4Lts a day and the days I am not doing this I find my BP is lower...... but it’s so frustrating to have to get up during the night for the loo Joy
