Hi I hope everyone is as well as they can be . I have WM and have been isolating throughout the pandemic I have had both Pfizer jabs and have had an antibody test from my GP It has come back negative for covid19 antibodies so as you can imagine I am a bit concerned if I have any protection against the virus. I spoke with the GP secretary who went away and came back with the answer that the jab doesn't actually give you antibodies and that they will only be triggered if you get the virus. I just wondered if anyone on here has had an antibody test and what the results were
Kind Regards
Simon
Hi Simon simon123….. yes this is a minefield.
There are about 3.8 million people who were classed as clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) in the UK at the start of the pandemic
Creator of Oxford vaccine Sarah Gilbert wrote yesterday that “And there are unfortunately some people with particular health conditions that mean they just don’t respond to a vaccine, and they are going to have to make sure that they are protected, probably by shielding again, if there is a lot of spread of the virus.”
I asked my clinical team about a test. They said I ‘may’ have ‘some’ protection from my two vaccines but there is insufficient evidence and tests as to how effective it has been to our ‘at risk’ group.
They are no longer doing tests (although I had decided not to have one anyway) as they were finding they were resulting in negative results and just propagated more anxiety and stress for the folks who had them.
So we will carry on living life to the full all obviously well risk assessed and look for more and more of the population to get the vaccine and a booster to be developed for us ‘at risk’ folks for us to go into the winter with…… mind you we have been living like this since Oct 2015 so a little longer is ok in the bigger picture of all this.

Hi Simon, I have WM and have had chemo some years ago. All seems ok now on that front. I have had both jabs with no real affects. I have 8 weekly infusions (one tomorrow!) of Immunoglobulin to bolster my immune system.Just hope I don't get it. I had many letters from Matt Hancock telling me I was very vulnerable which I knew anyway, rather a waste of paper IMO. Smiling is a good medicine so try to keep happy! Best wishes, Philip
I have WM and had Chemo some years ago and have been well since. I have been twice jabbed for Covid as well. I had a number of fairly pointless letters from Mr Hancock telling me I am very vulnerable which I knew anyway - a waste of paper etc IMO. I have 8 weekly infusions of Immunoglobulin to bolster my immune system (having one tomorrow!).
Keep smiling as laughter is really a darn good medicine. Best wishes
Philip
I am part of a study looking at vaccination effectiveness in lymphoma patients. I have made no antibodies to the vaccine so am not protected. My immunologist has sent my blood off to check for T cell cover but is not hopeful as my lymphocytes are so low. Like PhilM8 here I infuse immunoglobulin every week which helps with other infections but at the moment has no antibodies in it for covid. Hopefully that will happen soon.
