Primary Mediastinal Lymphoma in Remission

Hi,

I’ve completed 6 cycles of dose adjusted EPOCH-R and my last PET scan, at the start of December 2020, showed a complete metabolic remission.

I’ve essentially been shielding but having had the Pfizer COVID vaccine (first dose) in January with a subsequent dose due at the start of April, I need to consider returning to work in May. I work as a community pharmacist so there is no effective social distancing. I would be wearing a mask and observing good hand hygiene.

Any thoughts on my risk of COVID and advice on returning/not returning to work would be appreciated.

  • Hi  and welcome....... a very difficult question with no real specific answers.

I think it would all be down to your employers Risk Assessment that they would have to complete to cover your return to work.

You will then need to satisfy yourself that what has been put in place covers your personal safety as far as is within their powers to allow you to return to work.

COVID is going to be around for a rather longer time.

  • I have had the exact same treatment for the same cancer. Glad you are in remission. How are you feeling? I had many side affects still the first year. Are you feeling up to working besides covid?

Have you talked to your medical team? Are your blood levels up to normal? It took mine a year and a half to get back to normal. My lympho(lites?) Were still very low. It usually takes a few years to get back in the green. I don't mean the ones they test every time in the wards.

Diagnosed in may 2018 with Primary Mastetic Large B-Cell Non hodgkins Lymphoma. In remission since November 2018.
  • Hi again  I also had R-EPOCH in late 2013/24..... it’s a long journey Smirk

  • I’m feeling good, energy levels can get low at times but I’m able to exercise and feel better after doing so. My blood levels at last check were recovering well. I’ve got another set of blood tests at the end of March and will discuss with medical team and see what they recommend.

Great to hear you’re in remission

Thanks everyone for your input it’s great to hear other people’s perspective.
