Had first biopsy done on the 19th June. Had phone consultation with haematologist on the 30th June but had to have a second biopsy done on the 17th July due to not enough sample taken on the first one. Had scan before second biopsy just to make sure there was enough of the lymph node to get a second biopsy had quite a surprise as all of the lymph nodes including the biggest one had grown considerably in the last few weeks so was able to get a good biopsy they got 3 good samples. I am a bit worried now as they have grown in that short time. Only had biopsy done on the 17th July but have got telephone consultation with haematologist on 21st July is that too soon to get any sort of result?
Hi again Sandy and good to see you find this corner of the site.
Getting your diagnosis spot on is very important and I do understand your concerns about the speed of the growth but once treatment starts it will knock it all back.
By the time I went for my first chemo blast it looked like I had swallowed a brick!! It was something out of a Tom and Jerry film. My jaw had seized, my gums had swollen and we're coming up to cover my teeth. I was having great difficulty eating and was living on a liquid diet and my breathing was starting to be restricted.
I had an initial 15min blast of chemo and that got me through our family Christmas. It was amazing the difference that first Chemo blast made to the point I actually had some Christmas dinner.
Your team are on it and no it’s not too soon. I started treatment without all my results in place so it does all depend.
Could I suggest you have someone sit with you during this conversation or at least ask if you can record it as you could miss some of what you are told.
Do come back once you have more info ((hugs))
Thank you for your reply. I think the next step is to get a full body scan that is what I was told on last phone consultation with haematologist but that could of changed since last consultation. But that is if the biopsy comes back abnormal
So you are still in the ‘putting the jigsaw together’ stage, see what is said tomorrow and take it from there.
Hi Sandy
I agree with Thehighlander about how quickly lumps grow and disappear. The first I knew about NHL was a golf ball size lump under one arm. 3 days later it was the size of half an avocado and lumps were coming up in my neck, groin, armpits etc. I started chemo 3 weeks later and within 5 days all the visible lumps had gone. It is scary to see how quickly they come but I was told that the high grade lymphomas respond very well to treatment and this has certainly been my experience. I hope your treatment can start soon and you see some quick results.
