I’m planning a trip to Central Africa next year, including countries where Yellow Fever vaccination is strongly recommended. I have had asympomatic, indolent NHL for over 10 years now. Swollen lymph nodes in the neck, but no B symptoms thank God. Only treatment to date has been watch and wait.
My doctor is cautious about the vaccine as it is a “live” rather than “inactivated” vaccine. My own research online has been inconclusive. Age over 60 and thymic disorders increase risk of adverse events. Literature advises caution for the “immunosuppressed.”
Does anyone have experience of this vaccine, either before or after diagnosis or treatment? Or other live vaccines?
Am I considered “immunosuppressed" or "immunocompromised”, even though health is relatively stable right now?
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Hi I see you have posted this on a couple of sites, whilst I have no answer I would suggest you use the ask a nurse question and post there as they will give you a clear answer hopefully.
